Harmony Project Collaborates With Warner Music Group and Google’s LA Black Googler Network

June 18, 2024 - As part of their mission to use the transformative power of music to provide life-changing experiences to students in under-resourced communities, Harmony Project is thrilled to collaborate with Warner Music Group (WMG) and Google's LA Black Googler Network (BGN).

This collaboration will be highlighted at the upcoming "The Cookout" event on Friday, June 21st in honor of Black Music Month and Juneteenth. The event, hosted at the Warner Music Group downtown Los Angeles office, will bring together various employee resource groups (ERGs) and Black music professionals to celebrate Black culture and foster unity. Participating organizations are Guitar Center Music Foundation, Live Nation Black ERG, Netflix Black ERG, Recording Academy Black ERG, Springhill Company Black ERG, Sony Music Black ERG, Soundcloud Black ERG, Spotify Black ERG, and YouTube’s Black@YouTube.

As part of the collaboration, Harmony Project's Leimert Park drumline and drill team will be performing at "The Cookout." Their high-energy performance will pay tribute to the rhythms of Black music and provide the young artists with valuable performance experience.

"At Harmony Project, we believe in the power of music to unlock potential and open doors for young people in underserved communities,” said Natalie Jackson, Executive Director of Harmony Project. “This incredible opportunity allows our students to perform on a unique stage, while also fostering connections with industry professionals. It's these kinds of collaborations that inspire our students, propel them on their musical journeys, and create a ripple effect that will benefit the music industry for years to come."

“The Cookout” will also serve as an opportunity for Harmony Project to raise awareness and fundraise. Harmony Project's mission to empower underserved young artists with a free, high-quality music education is further strengthened by this performance opportunity facilitated through the collaboration with Warner Music Group and Google's LA Black Googler Network.

"What better way to celebrate Black Music Month than by showcasing the next generation of talent and raising funds to support their musical journeys,” said Alicia Dodd, Co-Lead BGN LA.  “We're thrilled to have partnered with WMG and the Harmony Project for this special day and are deeply inspired by their mission and dedication."

The collaboration between Google's Black Googler Network, Harmony Project, and Warner Music Group is a testament to the power of partnership and the impact music can have on communities. By coming together, these organizations are not only celebrating Black music but also making a positive difference in the lives of young artists.
