Harmony Project Participates in Festival of Masks

Harmony Project's Leimert Park drumline, composed of talented students from Audubon Middle School, had the honor of performing at LA Commons' Day of the Ancestors: Festival of Masks. This annual festival celebrates the lives and legacies of departed community members who have significantly impacted Los Angeles.

Harmony Project Leimert Park Drum Line at Festival of Masks

LA Commons is a nonprofit dedicated to empowering communities through public art creation, the festival fosters dialogue, interaction, and a deeper understanding of the city's rich cultural tapestry. This year, the Harmony Project Leimert Park drumline proudly participated in the processional honoring John Outterbridge, a revered Los Angeles artist, former director of the Watts Towers Arts Center, and a tireless community activist.

The event offered an opportunity for our families to join the processional alongside their student performers. Parents beamed with pride as their children showcased their musical talents and became an integral part of this meaningful celebration. Following the processional, our young Harmony Project artists joined forces with other musicians for a vibrant community jam session, capping off the day with a spirit of unity and shared joy.

Harmony Project is proud to have played a role in this significant cultural event. We remain committed to serving our community and providing a platform for our young artists to celebrate their heritage and contribute to the vibrant cultural landscape of Los Angeles.
