OUR EMSEMBLES

Harmony Project Orchestra
T he Harmony Project Orchestra (HPO) is made available to any Harmony Project students wishing to enroll. Students focus on simple orchestral repertoire and begin to develop ensemble skills in addition to learning how to work with a conductor. Rehearsals occur on Saturdays at LACC from 12:30-3:30, led by Willie Murillo.

Hollywood Youth Orchestra
The Hollywood Youth Orchestra (HYO) is made available to students in and outside of The Harmony Project. This is an AUDITION ONLY ensemble and a very high-leveled group playing standard orchestral repertoire. Rehearsals occur on Saturdays at LACC from 4:00-7:00, led by Henry Shin.

EXPO Center Youth Orchestra
The Los Angeles Philharmonic has made the Harmony Project’s expansion into South Los Angeles the first program of their Youth Orchestra Initiative (YOLA). The orchestra is composed of only Harmony Project students taking instrumental classes for at least one year at the EXPO Center and South LA Adopted Schools. They rehearse for 3 hours on Saturday mornings, led by Bruce Kiesling.

EXPO Center Young Musicians Ensemble
The new orchestra at the Expo Center is composed of only Harmony Project students taking instrumental classes for at least one year at the EXPO Center and South LA Adopted Schools. They rehearse for 3 hours on Saturday afternoons. They work on ensemble playing, musicianship, movement and rhythm. The orchestra will be composed of only Harmony Project students taking instrumental classes at the EXPO Center and South LA Adopted Schools, and will rehearse for 3 hours on Saturday afternoons.

Harmony Project Hip Hop Orchestra
Led by Diane Louie, this performance-based ensemble is open to all Harmony Project strings and community string players. Rehearsals meet on Saturday mornings from 10-12 at New Designs Charter School. To maximize the benefit of music education provided by Harmony
Project. Performance gives both context and significance to the
pursuit of excellence in any field.

HIP HOP ORCHESTRA, a unique ensemble performance opportunity for young people.

What it does
-

HIP HOP ORCHESTRA works to promote the healthy growth and development of children by focusing on professional comportment, leadership skills, musical anthropology and musicianship. By focusing on and practicing performance, students will learn what is expected of them
in a professional setting, and they will be equipped with the
requisite musical and life skills.

HIP HOP ORCHESTRA provides opportunities for Harmony Project's young people to accompany world renowned artists in myriad genres and professional quality settings. You'll find the ORCHESTRA accompanying dance, spoken word, instrumentalists, and vocalists.
